The early summer kick-off, Fast Five starts fast with an estimated $83.6 million box office, topping the weekend with a big lead. This is the biggest opening weekend for the franchise but the attendance didn't improve much.

Second at the box office is Rio with an estimated $14.4 million at the box office still holding on strong. Third is Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family with an estimated $10 million down 59.9% at the box office.

Fast Five set a record with the highest grossing opening weekend in April and for Universal Pictures. Fast Five is also the third highest-grossing opening weekend out of the summer and holiday seasons behind Alice in Wonderland with an estimated $116 million and The Passion of the Christ with an estimated $83.8 million.
