Harry Potter's Historical Weekend


After crushing the single day gross record with $92.1 million, previously held by The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 continued to break records over the weekend. Beyond forecasts, Harry Potter conjured up a massive $168.5 million in its opening weekend making it the highest grossing opening weekend removing The Dark Knight from the thrown who made $158.4 million.

Harry Potter is on his way to breaking other records and on its way to making it beyond $1 billion and could be the highest grossing movie of 2011.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon came in second making an estimated $21.5 million in its third weekend bringing its domestic total to an impressive $302 million and with a foreign total of $460 million. Transformers 3 is also on track to pass the $1 billion mark. Horrible Bosses held on strong making a good $17.6 million and Zookeeper made $12.3 million in its second weekend.
